? What level of experience should I have to attend?A person at any level will benefit from attending the Horizon Summit. ? If I cannot attend on Friday, can I still register?Absolutely. The bulk of our activities are on Saturday and Sunday. Our registration desk will be open on Saturday morning from 7:45 until 10:00. ? Can children attend?Yes, if they are sixteen or older and mature. (Children fourteen and older can attend if accompanied by a supervising adult. A workshop shared by a child and parent or grandparent can be a wonderful experience.) A legally responsible adult must sign a liability release for a minor. ? Do discount coupons apply to the Summit? Our Horizon Alumni discount coupons do not apply to the Summit. ? During the breaks between classes, and classes and meals, what can participants do?Here are some options: sign up for a Portfolio Review and/or Camera Basics; take photos in Chesapeake City; hang out with fellow students and instructors; browse antique stores and gift shops; walk or bike on the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal (miles of waterfront trails right outside town). ? Can I sign up for more than one portfolio review? You can sign up for as many reviews you like with whichever instructor(s) you choose. Time availability is listed on the registration page. First come, first served. ? What exactly is "Camera Basics?"Dain Simons reviews all of the major operational features (and minor ones if you want) of your particular camera in a 20-minute session. ? If I'm traveling with a companion who is not attending the Summit, what can they do?Chesapeake City is a beautiful, historic town with sights, shops, waterfront walking/biking trails, and nearby points of interest. For further information, see ChesapeakeCity.com and seeCecil.org ? Should I bring my laptop? That is totally up to you. It will not be needed for any Summit activities. ? What clothing should I wear?Casual clothes and comfortable walking shoes. Temperatures range from the mid-50s to low 80s. ? Can classes be cancelled?Individual classes may be cancelled in unusual circumstances. Multiple classes are held during each session, so there will always be classes to attend. ? What is your refund policy? If you contact us via email no later than April 15, 2008, you will be refunded 60% of all fees paid. Between April 16- 30, you will receive a 40% refund of all fees paid. May 1 - 4, you will receive a $100 gift certificate toward any Horizon workshop. ? Where are meals eaten? Are vegetarians accommodated? All meals are eaten in a large communal dining room. Vegetarian food will be available. ? What if I do not register for the meal plan? There are five restaurants in Chesapeake City that cater to varied tastes and budgets. ? Do I need a car?Once you arrive in Chesapeake City, you will not need a car. All Summit activities are a very short walk from each other. ? How long does it take to get to Chesapeake City from the major cities?Chesapeake City is 10 miles off I-95 (Exit 109S). If there is no traffic, we are 2 1/2 hours from the Lincoln Tunnel, two hours from the White House, and about one hour from downtown Baltimore and Philly. For distances and directions, see Directions. ? What airports and train stations are nearby?Philadelphia International (50 minutes from Chesapeake City); BWI (Baltimore-Washington) (80 minutes away). AMTRAK stops in Newark, DE (25 minutes) on Friday (not on Sundays) and stops routinely in Wilmington, DE (35 minutes). The DC and Baltimore commuter train (MARC) to Perryville, MD (last stop; 30 minutes away) runs intermittently. Cab service is generally available; you might find a lift on Sunday for your return. ? Can I come by boat?Chesapeake City has a boat basin beside the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal. To rent a slip for the weekend, call the Chesapeake Inn. ? What can you tell me about B & Bs in Chesapeake City? The town's three B & Bs are just a few steps from our classrooms and rooms are limited, so you will need to register very early. There are many motels in the nearby towns of Elkton and Northeast, Maryland. See our Lodging link. If you are traveling from southern Delaware, there are motels (not yet listed on our Lodging page) in Middletown and Bear. ? Are facilities handicapped accessible?Almost all facilities are. Two classrooms are up a flight of stairs, and you will receive assistance as needed. ? Can I give someone a gift of the Horizon Summit?Absolutely. Caution: If you register in someone else's name and don't want them to know you've done it, you should call us first so they don't get an immediate "Thank You for Registering confirmation email." ?When do I choose my classes?Unlike previous years, registration admits you to any Summit class. You may change your mind about which class(es) to attend at any time. Appointments for Portfolio Reviews and Camera Basics sessions should be made when registering.
