Small, accessible, filled with charm, living history and beautiful, diverse landscapes...that's Portugal. It receives scant attention from American tourists or photographers; they are overlooking something distinctive and exceptional. Our August, 2015 journey will take us from castles to cork trees, from enchanting valleys to magestic mountains, from seaside villages to dramatic coastal surf, from exaulted churches to eerie catacombs. Plus Roman ruins, wineries and Lisbon's distinctive neighborhoods. We'll stay in several different hotels (see below). The trip will begin and end in Lisbon.

There will be three detailed critiques of students' images taken during the trip, along with individual and group instruction.

Non-Photographer Companions: Companions who would like to join their partner are welcome to enjoy touring, hiking, shopping, eating, soaking up local culture, etc. Tuition is 20% off that indicated below. Companions can receive the early registration discount and, if eligible, the Horizon alumni discount.

NOTE: Photos at right and on Gottlieb bio page were taken in Portugal. The "Students on Location" photos (below) and "Workshop Photos" (link at right) were taken during the Gottlieb's 2014 workshop in Ireland.
