The eastern Sierras is one of the most visually dramatic and diverse places in the country. On this trip we'll explore many of the areas greatest visual wonders including: Lake Tahoe; Yosemite National Park; Eureka Sand Dunes (the tallest dunes in the country in the north corner of Death Valley Nat'l Park); Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest (world's oldest living things); Bodie Ghost Town (perhaps the finest ghost town in the country), Mono Lake (home to the unique Tufa Towers and volcanic craters); Virginia City (campy Wild West town) and the architecture and night lights of Reno, NV (our embarcation point). Of course we'll also photograph people, flaura and fauna that catch our eye. We are always open to serendipitous discoveries along our route, so some items on our list may be dropped and others added. Note: Based on historical records, there is a 10% chance that late, heavy spring snow will block our access to Yosemite. In that event, our planned 1 1/2 days in Yosemite would be replace by other worthwhile locations.

This is an ideal time of year: no summer crowds, limited precipitation and comfortable temperatures (45°—85°). We shoot from early morning until early evening and drive an average of 150 miles/day. The pace is not particularly strenuous, but bear in mind that some days we are at high elevations. There is group and one-on-one instruction. Among other things, Steve demonstrates the use of flash in different situations and basic Photoshop and Lightroom processing. Three detailed critiques will help take your photos to the next level.
