Editing & Marketing Your Images (1 Day) - Diane Shapiro
You take good photographs and would like to see them published. Maybe even get paid for them. How do you get started? What are the most suitable markets for your images? How do you reach the right people? Diane reviews each student's images from a picture editor's perspective. If your images aren't yet marketable, what is needed to get them there? What are picture editors looking for? What turns them off? Diane will explain the requirements of the different markets: editorial (newspapers, magazines and books), photo products (including calendars and greeting cards), and fine art (exhibits and art shows). Diane also discusses today's market for stock photos, including: different types of outlets for stock (including stock agencies); selling rights managed vs. royalty free images; the critical importance of keywording and how to do it; and most fundamentally, what are the elements that make a great stock image. Diane will review each student's images and give concrete suggestions for the next steps to getting your work published.
